The short version
You keep your copyright. You license your piece under Creative Commons so it can travel. You tell readers who you are and what might colour your view. We edit for clarity and sourcing and we may decline to publish. We do not pay for coverage and we do not accept payment for it.
1. Who can contribute
Practitioners, lawyers, academics, students, policy staff, and anyone else with something accurate and useful to say about governing AI in organizations. You apply through the contribute form; the editor decides what to publish.
2. Your rights and ours
You own what you write. By submitting a piece for publication you grant Synthetic Labs a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free licence to publish, edit for house style and accuracy, translate, and distribute it on the Commons, in the Brief, through the API and feeds, and in republish bundles, under the Creative Commons licence stated on the piece (CC BY 4.0 for Wire items, playbooks, and research; CC BY-ND 4.0 for analysis and opinion). You may publish the piece elsewhere; please link to the Commons version.
3. What you promise
That the piece is your own work, or that you have the right to submit it; that it does not infringe anyone's copyright, confidentiality, or privacy; that every factual claim links to or cites a primary source; that quotations are accurate; and that you have disclosed any relationship (employer, client, funder, investment, advisory role) that a reasonable reader would want to know about.
4. Disclosures
Every piece carries a disclosure line written by you and reviewed by the editor. If you have nothing to disclose, say so. Undisclosed conflicts discovered later lead to a published correction and may end the relationship.
5. Editing and corrections
We edit for clarity, length, sourcing, house style, and accuracy. Substantive edits are agreed with you before publication where practical. After publication, corrections are made promptly, marked on the piece, and logged publicly. You agree to help correct errors in your work.
6. Payment and independence
We do not pay contributors and we do not accept payment, gifts, or favours for publishing. Sponsored content, if ever carried, is labelled and never written as editorial.
7. AI assistance
Say in the disclosure line whether and how you used AI tools in research, drafting, or editing. You remain responsible for every word. Do not submit text that is substantially generated by a model without your own checking and rewriting.
8. Removal
You may ask for your piece to be unpublished; we will do so unless a public-interest reason to keep it exists, and the licence already granted to others for copies they made remains in force. We may unpublish a piece that turns out to be inaccurate, infringing, or in breach of these terms.
